Welcome to part two of our eight-part analysis of Mintcom In the last post we covered how to use the Accounts and Profile pages In this post we take a closer look at Mints Overview page

Overview

Clicking on the Overview tab in the upper navigation brings you to a page that functions as your dashboard This page features a series of interesting modules that give you a broad view of your financial situation Each module lets you drill down further by linking to more detailed information on other pages of the site Below youll find descriptions of each of those modules

Accounts Module

This module which runs along the left side of the page gives you an overview of the various accounts you set up in the Your Accounts pop-upincluding cash credit loans investments and property It also calculates your total net worth

Alerts Module

The alerts module sits at the top of the page warning you of any upcoming bills as well as any large deposits or withdrawals associated with your accounts

Advice Module

This module sits below the alerts module providing suggestions to improve your financial situation like setting specific goals or taking advantage of financial product offers

Budget Module

The budget module gives you a broad look at each of the monthly budgets youve defined more info below You can see how much youve spent in each of those categories and how close you are to reaching your spending limits

Goals Module

The goals module gives you an update on how close you are to hitting your user-defined financial goals letting you know if youre behind or ahead of schedule on your savings plan

Portfolio Movers amp Shakers

This module shows you the top gains and losses from your financial portfolio for the previous seven days It shows you the dollar value of each security listed as well as the seven-day gain or loss in both dollars and percentage points

Trends Module

Located just below the accounts module on the left side of the screen the trends module provides an overview of two very important trendsyour cash versus credit card debt and your net income The cash versus credit card debt section displays a bar graph showing your cash on hand credit card obligations and the net difference between the two The net income section also displays a bar graph with each bar representing your net income for a given month

Ways to Save Module

This module advertises various financial products that can help save you money Youll find offers on credit cards insurance bank accounts loans retirement funds and more
